I'm a sucker for a good dark romance, one that sucks you into the insanity, the depravity and makes your gut wrench, wanting more...craving more. And in that aspect, Charity B. delivers with her release of Anointed.

I have never read a book by Charity B. until now but now that I have, I'm hoping to see a lot more darkness coming from this author.

Anointed is a fascinating story. Not only is it a dark romance that is full of taboos, it's also based within a cult and the backgrounds for the characters are pretty horrific. Captivating from the very start, Anointed takes readers on an intriguing, dark path and left me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading. Disturbing and depraved, Anointed is a gripping book that is so unique, it left me raw, shattered. I went through a whole host of emotions during my time reading Anointed. From sadness to anger, I was wrought with tension throughout the entire book in one way or another.

The author puts so much into this story - friendship, faith, devotion & deceit, fear and love, lies, loyalty and pain and throws in many trials to test Zebadiah and Laurel. Zebadiah and Laurel's characters are so well-written and complex, they are characters that you want more, more, more of and she continues on that same path with the secondary characters.

The twists in the plot are original and unexpected. The writing is dark, delicious and brilliant in the way the author brings the story to life amongst the pages. I found Anointed utterly fascinating and days after reading I'm still struggling with a major book hangover. Definitely one of my favorite reads of 2018!
