{Blog Tour} Death by the River by Alexandrea Weis & Lucas Astor

Death by the River
Alexandrea Weis & Lucas Astor
Published by: Vesuvian Books
Publication date: October 2nd 2018
Genres: Horror, Young Adult

A high school “American Psycho.”

SOME TRUTHS ARE BETTER KEPT SECRET.
SOME SECRETS ARE BETTER OFF DEAD.

Along the banks of the Bogue Falaya River, sits the abandoned St. Francis Seminary. Beneath a canopy of oaks, blocked from prying eyes, the teens of St. Benedict High gather here on Fridays. The rest of the week belongs to school and family—but weekends belong to the river.
And the river belongs to Beau Devereaux.
The only child of a powerful family, Beau can do no wrong. Handsome. Charming. Intelligent. The star quarterback of the football team. The “prince” of St. Benedict is the ultimate catch.
    He is also a psychopath.
A dirty family secret buried for years, Beau’s evil grows unchecked. In the shadows of the ruined St. Francis Abbey, he commits unspeakable acts on his victims and ensures their silence with threats and intimidation. Senior year, Beau sets his sights on his girlfriend’s headstrong twin sister, Leslie, who hates him.        Everything he wants but cannot have, she will be his ultimate prize.
As the victim toll mounts, it becomes crystal clear that someone has to stop Beau Devereaux.
And that someone will pay with their life.

Review:
As soon as I read the blurb for Death by the River I was intrigued. I wasn't sure what to entirely expect going in because both of these authors are new to me... But WOW! This writing duo blew my mind in unimaginable ways.
Beau Devereaux is a psycho, but not someone you would imagine to be. He's Mister Popularity. The star of the football team, the son of a well known and powerful family, Beau has the looks and charms to succeed. Deep inside him though, his soul is black and there's this sinister evil lurking inside of him. His own parents can see it inside of him. When Beau is turned down by his girlfriend's sister, he sets out to get his revenge - and it's quite brutal.
Death by the River is told in alternate points of view that are structured and written well. The story itself had some surprising twists that I didn't see coming and THAT ending.. Well, I can't give it away, but it blew me away!! Twisted and dark, Death by the River is the perfect book to read if you want a psychological thriller that has grit, suspense and darkness. Heart-pounding and mind-blowing, this book was my favorite this Halloween season!!

Review

Traitor started off a bit slow for me and at one point I was thinking about putting it down,  but something told me to stick with it and I did. And I ended up loving it. Once I got into the book, it picked up becoming more fast paced and intriguing.

Peyton and Ford are both broken souls, damaged in different ways but when they come together they each begin the healing process and while doing so begin to fall in love with one another.

With so many twists and turns, Traitor is a hard book to put down - and I can't believe that I almost did! The ending came as a total surprise to me which is hard to do.

Angsty, suspenseful, and intriguing Traitor has it all.

Review
Further to Fall is the story of Carter and Austin. Told in dual points of view, from the very first page I was intrigued by their story. Both Austin and Carter are characters that you instantly fall for.

Austin having been hurt in the past can only focus on one thing - his career. Carter, a school teacher is a sweetheart. Brave, bold and kind, Carter is a character you can't help but to love.

Austin and Carter begin as friends but it builds into something more, something beautiful.

The epilogue was incredible and can we just ask..beg..plead to see some of the secondary characters get their own books?

{Release Blitz} The Life I Never Asked For by Kira Adams

Title: The Life I Never Asked For
Author: Kira Adams
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 16, 2018
Cover Designer: Patricia Maia from Maya's Teasers & Designs

We were never supposed to be. Life threw a curveball at me, wrecking everything in it’s wake.

I had it all, and in a single moment it was ripped away from me.

I lost everything. I lost myself.

Picking up the broken pieces of my life hasn’t been easy. Starting over is the hardest part.

I didn’t ask for this life, but I’m going to make the most of it for them.

The Life I Never Asked For is short, but great read. Read in just an hour, The Life I Never Asked For is about Tobin, a widow who is the only survivor of a tragic accident. Now, she is learning how to move on with her life even though she is filled with grief for losing ones she loved and for what life could have been if the accident would never have occurred. Meeting Keifer helps her embrace the future.

What I liked about The Life I Never Asked For: The characters. Tobin is a strong woman and I felt for what she was going through. I really liked Keifer, however I wasn't really sure what was causing the attitude he felt towards Tobin in the beginning and it threw me off a bit. Both characters were well written though and the chemistry between them could be felt. It was natural.

The Storyline: I have mixed feelings here. I enjoyed the book and I really liked the storyline. However with that being said, there was really no conflict. They got over their initial distaste for each other quickly and then it was smooth sailing. While they resisted for a bit, just a few days really, they got over the taboo feeling quick and then jumped right ahead into a relationship. It all seemed a tad bit unrealistic. While I enjoyed the characters and the relationship they developed, I wanted a little bit more.

I think readers will enjoy The Life I Never Asked For as did I and I will be on the lookout for more books by Adams.

I’m used to being in charge.
In the courtroom. In life. In the bedroom.
But then I met him.

He brings me literally to my knees.

 Handsome. Charismatic. Sexy as hell.
He’s everything I desperately crave to possess.

I’m burning to get him beneath me just to have a taste.
Turns out, though, one taste isn’t enough.
And he’s starved for me too.

Two alphas fighting for dominance.
He thrives on control and I can’t give it up.

 A battle of wills.
The bedroom is the battlefield and our hearts are on the line.

My Review

I like the taboo, gritty books that put you through an emotional wringer. In Dane, Webster delivers just that. Dane and Nick are incredible together: passionate, intense and sexy as hell. Both dominates, craving control, the push and pull between them leaves you on the edge of your seat.

Dane blew my mind, warmed my heart and gave me the tingles. A great taboo treat, I really enjoyed Dane and Nick's journey and the wild ride Webster takes these two on. Drama, angst and emotional cuts, Dane was everything I wanted and more.
